A Life Worth Living

Quality of Life? What does that REALLY mean?

Most people, especially young, healthy people equate a LONG life with a QUALITY life.

In my opinion a high quality of life cannot be measured in terms of longevity or certainly by accumulation of tangible assets.

When I think of what makes my life truly rewarding it is the things that I DO, not the things that I HAVE that makes life worth living.

I believe this becomes increasingly important as we get older. Our bodies begin to let us down, our minds are not as quick as they once were, but our basic human need for self actualization is never diminished.

  • Relating: The relationships we create with members of our family and friends, and the way we maintain and build those relationships.
  • Creating: Writing, drawing, painting, inventing, building…
  • Helping: Being able to lend a hand to people in need…
  • Realizing: Making, working towards, and achieving goals, no matter what those goals are.
  • Playing: Letting go of restraints, imagining new possibilities, testing yourself against others or against yourself, finding humor and joy.
  • Growing: Learning new things, improving knowledge and ability.

Many geriatric healthcare providers provide excellent clinical care. It is the exceptional provider that makes a top priority of maintaining the highest quality of life.

Our own Masonicare is just such an organization.

The Masonicare Quality of Life Fund dedicated specifically to supporting and enhancing exactly these types of activities.

On Saturday morning, May 19th 2012 a Quality of Life Fundraising Walk will take place in Great River Park in East Hartford.

Please support as generously as possible and take the opportunity to enhance your own quality of life by helping others and enjoying this activity with your family and friends.
